Who is this course for?
This course aims for students who are interested in aviation and flying but have no previous knowledge in such area. Students will be taught in the areas of general aviation and flying from a beginner’s perspective. Areas such as the history of flying, basic principles of flying, how powered aircraft works, how weather conditions affects flying, and airfield practice will be explored.
Course outline
- Introductory Aeronautical Knowledge – documents & terminology, airmanship & “human factors”, preparation for flight, the typical training aeroplane, cockpit controls & instruments
- Aerodynamics – wings, lift & drag, flight control, straight & level flight, climbing flight, descending flight, stalls, turning flight, taxi, take-off & landing
- Radio-telephony – VHF radio communications, basic RTF procedures, making radio contact
- Flight Rules & Air Law – flight rules & conditions of flight, rules of the air
- Navigation – an introduction to navigation, time & date (the 24-hour clock, date/time group), direction (three-figure group, directional references, aeroplane heading)
- Revision Tests – radio test, course progress test.
